A warm ritual to start your morning — the fat and black pepper here aren't decoration, they help your body actually absorb the turmeric.

Ingredients
- 1 cup full-fat canned coconut milk (not the carton beverage — you need the fat content for a creamy latte)
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch black pepper (essential — piperine in black pepper significantly increases turmeric absorption)
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tsp maple syrup, or 4-5 drops liquid stevia for sugar-free
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- 1
Warm the coconut milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking gently. Keep it below a simmer — boiling hard can cause the coconut fat to separate and look grainy.
- 2
Whisk in the turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger directly into the warm milk until no dry clumps remain.
- 3
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and your sweetener of choice — adding vanilla off the heat protects its delicate aroma from cooking off.
- 4
Pour into a mug and froth with a milk frother or whisk vigorously for 15 seconds to build a light foam before serving.
