Ingredients

  • 1 cup oat milk (barista blend recommended — it froths better than regular oat milk)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon)
  • 3 cardamom pods, cracked
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 black tea bag
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or allulose

Method

  1. 1

Combine oat milk, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and ginger in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat and let the spices steep for 5 minutes — this 'blooming' step releases far more aromatic oil from whole spices than mixing them into cold milk.

  3. 3

Add the tea bag and steep for 3 more minutes, then remove the tea bag and strain out the whole spices.

  4. 4

Stir in your sweetener, then froth the strained milk with a whisk or frother before pouring into a mug.
