Ingredients

  • 4 cups unfiltered apple juice (no added sugar)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger

Method

    Combine all ingredients in a medium pot.

    Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat — never a hard boil, which can make the spices taste bitter and muddy the flavor.

    Reduce heat to low and let steep for 20-25 minutes.

    Strain out the spices and orange slices before serving warm.
