Affogato
Pouring the hot espresso over the cold ice cream right at the table, not in the kitchen ahead of time, is what lets it hit the ice cream while both the heat contrast and the melting drizzle are still at their best.

Ingredients
- 2 scoops no-churn vanilla ice cream (see recipe above)
- 2 shots hot brewed espresso or strong coffee
Method

Scoop the vanilla ice cream into a small serving glass or cup.

Brew the espresso or strong coffee hot, right before serving.

Bring both the ice cream and the hot coffee to the table separately.

Pour the hot espresso directly over the ice cream right at the table, not ahead of time in the kitchen — pouring it tableside like this is what lets the dramatic heat contrast and the melting drizzle happen right as it's eaten; poured too early, the ice cream fully melts into a puddle before it ever reaches the table.
