Broiled Lobster Tails with Garlic Butter

Cutting through the top shell and lifting the meat to rest on top of it, instead of leaving it tucked inside, is what lets the broiler actually brown and cook it evenly.

Ingredients

  • 4 lobster tails
  • 4 tbsp dairy-free butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1

Using kitchen shears, cut through the top of the lobster shell lengthwise down to the tail, then gently lift the meat up and rest it on top of the split shell, keeping it attached at the base — resting the meat up on top like this, rather than leaving it tucked down inside the shell, is what lets the broiler's direct heat actually brown and cook it evenly instead of just steaming inside the shell.

  2. 2

Whisk melted dairy-free butter, garlic, and lemon juice together.

  3. 3

Brush the lobster meat generously with the garlic butter, season with paprika, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

Broil 8-10 minutes, until the meat is opaque and lightly browned on top.

  5. 5

Garnish with parsley and serve with any remaining garlic butter for dipping.
