Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz each) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 onion, diced small
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 2 tbsp olive oil for frying
Method
- 1
Pat the black beans dry with a towel to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Mash about two-thirds of the beans with a fork, leaving the remaining third whole — this partial mash is what gives the burgers real texture and bite, instead of a uniform, mushy paste that falls apart.
- 3
Mix the mashed and whole beans with almond flour, egg, onion, garlic, chili powder, and cumin until just combined.
- 4
Form into 4-6 patties and chill 20 minutes.
- 5
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties 4-5 minutes per side until browned and heated through.
