Turkey Burgers with Caramelized Onions
Chilling the formed patties for 15 minutes before cooking is what keeps lean ground turkey from falling apart on the grill or in the pan.

Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground turkey
- 1/4 cup almond flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- lettuce leaves for serving (bun-free)
Method
- 1
Mix ground turkey, almond flour, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined, then form into 4 patties.
- 2
Chill the formed patties in the fridge for 15 minutes — lean ground turkey has very little fat to hold it together, and this chilling step firms up the patties so they don't crumble apart when they hit the heat.
- 3
Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat and cook the onion, stirring occasionally, 20-25 minutes until deeply caramelized and golden brown.
- 4
Push the onions aside, increase heat to medium-high, and cook the chilled patties 5-6 minutes per side until cooked through.
- 5
Serve the patties wrapped in lettuce leaves, topped with caramelized onions.
